Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Park

Travel time: About 5 to 6 Hours Your Kenya safari starts with an early morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After a quick briefing by your safari guide, embark on a scenic 5 to 6-hour drive towards the Masai Mara National Reserve – Kenya’s most famous national park in the southwest. Enjoy a short stop at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to take in the panoramic views and capture stunning photos of this geological wonder before continuing the journey through Narok, a lively Maasai town. You will arrive in the Masai Mara in the afternoon, upon which, you will check in at your mid-range safari lodge or tented camp, enjoy a hearty lunch, and gear up for an exciting introductory game drive at around 3:30 pm. Masai Mara’s vast savannahs are teeming with wildlife, and you might spot species ranging from big cats such as lions, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard to elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, and zebras. After that incredible game-viewing experience, you will return to your lodge for a relaxing evening. Overnight stay in the Masai Mara National Reserve. Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara

Wake up early and have breakfast at 6:30 am, before venturing into the wild for a full day of game viewing across the Masai Mara’s iconic savannah. With packed lunch boxes, you will explore deeper into the reserve, increasing your chances of witnessing breathtaking wildlife moments.The Masai Mara is famed for its abundant wildlife, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), big cats including cheetahs, Masai giraffes, hartebeests and several antelope species. If visiting between July and October, you will also visit the famous Mara River and witness the Great Migration crossings, where millions of wildebeest and zebras cross the crocodile and hippo-infested river. Meanwhile, predators such as lions, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, and vultures follow closely behind them – a natural spectacle like no other. Enjoy a picnic lunch in a picturesque bush setting and proceed with your full-day game drive. If you are interested, an optional hot air balloon safari at dawn offers an unparalleled aerial view of the Mara (at an additional cost). Day 3: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park

Travel Time: About 5 Hours After an early breakfast, check out and embark on a scenic 5-hour drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its flocks of flamingos and a thriving rhino sanctuary. Enjoy the scenic journey traversing through the Great Rift Valley’s stunning landscapes. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, have lunch, and relax. Later, embark on an evening game drive. Located in Kenya’s Great Valley, Lake Nakuru’s ecosystem is a haven for both wildlife and birdlife. Aside from the millions of pink flamingos that famously line the lake’s shores, you may also encounter a range of pelicans, cormorants, and an array of other birds. The park is also home to white and black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, lions, hippos, impalas, and the elusive leopard. Overnight in Lake Nakuru National Park. Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Nairobi

Start the day with an early morning game drive to catch Lake Nakuru’s wildlife at its most active. Explore the park’s acacia woodlands and open plains while spotting zebras, buffaloes, and the occasional leopard. A visit to the Rhino Sanctuary gives you a close-up encounter with Kenya’s conservation success in protecting endangered rhinos. After the morning game drive, enjoy breakfast at the lodge, check out, and begin your 3 to 4-hour journey back to Nairobi. Arrive in the afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel or at the airport, marking the end of your thrilling 4-day mid-range Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru safari.
