Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania
Your journey begins as you touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, where our friendly guide will be waiting to greet you. Arusha is preferable as it is the gateway to Tanzania’s world-famous national parks. Before heading into the wild, you will have the chance to explore the city. Visit the Arusha Cultural Heritage Centre for a glimpse into the country’s rich history through traditional artwork, jewellery, ancient artefacts, sculptures, antiquities, apparel, and literature. The Maasai Market is another perfect place to pick up beautifully handcrafted souvenirs, from beaded jewellery to woven baskets.
After a day of cultural immersion, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and prepare for the adventures ahead. Overnight stay in Arusha.
Day 2: Transfer to Tarangire National Park
Travel Time: About 2 Hours
After an early breakfast, embark on a 2-hour drive to Tarangire National Park, located in the Northern Safari Circuit. Tarangire National Park is known for harbouring one of Africa’s largest elephant populations, which are often seen roaming near the ancient baobab trees that dot the landscape. Upon arrival in Tarangire, enjoy an introductory game drive on your way to your lodge. Relax at your lodge and have lunch before embarking on an afternoon game drive, which is nothing short of spectacular.
As you drive through the golden grasslands, keep your eyes peeled for big cats like lions, leopards, and cheetahs, as well as elephants, zebras, giraffes, and buffalo. The Tarangire River, which runs through the park, attracts large herds of animals, making it the perfect spot to witness wildlife interactions. As the sun sets, you will settle into your cosy lodge surrounded by the sounds of nature. Overnight stay in Tarangire National Park.
Day 3: Journey to Serengeti National Park
Travel Time: About 6 to 7 Hours
After an early breakfast, depart Tarangire and continue to the legendary Serengeti National Park, passing through Karatu town and the breathtaking Ngorongoro highlands along the way. Enjoy the 6 to 7-hour drive, passing through rolling hills, lush forests, and glimpses of Maasai villages. Entering through the southern portion of the Serengeti, you will be welcomed by a gently rolling savannah dotted with rock kopjes and a wide range of wildlife.
This vast, open savannah is home to the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles move across the plains in search of fresh grass. Outside the migration season, the Serengeti is teeming with life, with plenty of lions basking in the sun, cheetahs scanning the horizon, and elephants roaming freely. Your game drive continues en route to your camp, where you will check in and relax for the rest of the day. Overnight stay in Serengeti National Park.
Day 4: Full Day in the Serengeti National Park
Today is all about immersing yourself in the raw beauty of the Serengeti – the heart and soul of African Safaris. With a full day to explore, you will venture deeper into the park, visiting areas like the Seronera Valley, known for its predator sightings, or the Grumeti River, where crocodiles patiently wait for their prey during the Great Migration.
If you’re looking for a truly unique experience, consider taking a hot air balloon safari at sunrise. Floating above the Serengeti as the golden light spreads across the plains is nothing short of magical. After landing, you’ll enjoy a champagne breakfast in the bush, making for an unforgettable morning.
Nonetheless, the exhilarating game drives will keep you busy, with every turn offering a new and exciting wildlife encounter back on the ground. Overnight stay in Serengeti National Park
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – A Natural Wonderland
Travel time: 4 to 5 Hours
Saying goodbye to the Serengeti, have an early breakfast and transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to one of the most spectacular natural wonders in Africa – the Ngorongoro Crater. This massive volcanic caldera is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its unique ecosystem supports an incredible variety of wildlife of over 25,000 mammals. On arrival, you will drive straight to your lodge at the rim of the crater for check-in and lodge.
In the afternoon, head to the crater floor for an exciting game drive. As you descend 600 meters to the crater floor, you will enter a world where black rhinos, lions, elephants, buffaloes and the elusive leopard thrive. Other wildlife to expect include giraffes, cheetahs, impalas, wildebeests and zebras among many others. The crater is also home to Lake Magadi, a shallow alkaline lake where flocks of pink flamingos and various other bird species gather. If you’re interested in cultural experiences, you may also visit a Maasai village, where you can interact with the Maasai people and learn about their traditions.
After this immersive experience, head back to the crater rim and relax at your lodge while enjoying breathtaking views of the crater and the surrounding scenery. Overnight stay in Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Day 6: Transfer back to Arusha and Fly to Zanzibar
Drive Time: About 2 to 3 Hours
Flight time: 1hr 15 Minutes
After an early breakfast, you will drive back to Arusha Airport and catch a short flight to Zanzibar. As soon as you step off the plane, the warm Indian Ocean breeze welcomes you to this island paradise. You will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel or resort, right by the beach, offering the perfect setting to unwind and soak in the tropical atmosphere. Overnight stay in Zanzibar.
Day 7: Explore Stone Town & Prison Island
Today after breakfast, we explore Zanzibar! Zanzibar is not just about the stunning beaches, but it is also rich in history and culture. Today, you will explore Stone Town, a UNESCO-listed historical town with a unique blend of Swahili, Arab, Persian, and European influences. Strolling through the narrow streets, you will visit landmarks like the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Sultan’s Palace.
Later, you will also take a short boat ride to Prison Island, home to giant Aldabra tortoises that can live over 150 years! You can also snorkel in the clear waters before returning to your hotel. Overnight stay in Zanzibar.
Day 8 – 9: Beach Relaxation & Water Adventures
The next two days are all about relaxation and adventure at your own pace. You may simply enjoy the pristine beaches of Nungwi, Kendwa, or Paje, or take part in exciting activities like snorkeling or diving at Mnemba Atoll, a world-famous coral reef, kite-surfing in Paje, and sailing on a traditional dhow boat at sunset. Another interesting thing to do is visit a spice farm to see where Zanzibar’s famous cloves, vanilla, and cinnamon are grown. Overnight stay in Zanzibar.
