Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
Travel time: About 4 to 5 Hours
Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Nairobi or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) to Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s most breathtaking safari destinations. Known for its large elephant herds and unparalleled views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli National Park offers a spectacular wildlife experience in southern Kenya.
On arrival in the park, check into your lodge and have lunch. At around 3:30 pm, head into the wild for a thrilling afternoon game drive. Framed by the 5,896-meter snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro peak, Amboseli offers a breathtaking safari experience. The park is famous for its large elephant herds, which roam alongside lions, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, hippos, gazelles, and wildebeest. The park is also home to over 400 recorded bird species. Amboseli is a wildlife haven set against one of Africa’s most iconic backdrops.
The game drive will last about 3 hours, after which your guide will drive you back to your lodge for dinner and relaxation. Overnight stay in Amboseli National Park.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Viewing in Amboseli
Spend the entire day today in classic game viewing! Wake up early at 6:30 am for a sunrise game drive, the best time to spot predators like lions and hyenas on the hunt. Return to your lodge for a late breakfast at around 9:30 am breakfast and relax at your lodge. After lunch, return for another exciting game drive to visit the park’s swamps and dry lake beds, which attract a variety of wildlife.
Optional visit to a traditional Maasai village on the outskirts of the park, where you may meet the Maasai people, learn about their unique customs and witness their energetic warrior dances.

Day 3: Amboseli to Lake Naivasha
Travel time: 5 to 6 Hours
Bid farewell to Amboseli as you journey through the Great Rift Valley toward Lake Naivasha, a beautiful freshwater lake teeming with birdlife. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and enjoy a relaxing lunch. After lunch, hop onto a boat and cruise across Lake Naivasha, where hippos, fish eagles, and kingfishers thrive. You will also visit Crescent Island, where you can walk among wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, and antelopes. Known as Naivasha’s best-kept secret, Crescent Island is a true wildlife haven. The island forms a picturesque peninsula, accessible only by boat from either the East or West side.
After a day of wonder, indulge in a delightful dinner and a restful night in the African wilderness. Overnight stay at Lake Naivasha.
Day 4: Lake Naivasha to Lake Nakuru National Park
Travel time: About 2 Hours
After breakfast, embark on a short drive to Hell’s Gate National Park, one of the few places in Africa where you can walk or cycle among wildlife. Located in the heart of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, this park offers an unforgettable experience for adventure seekers and nature lovers alike. Hell’s Gate is famous for towering cliffs, steaming geysers, and the iconic Fischer’s Tower.
Upon arrival in the park, enjoy rock climbing and a guided walking experience with an opportunity to encounter giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes in their natural habitat. The park’s rich geothermal activity adds an intriguing element, making it a unique destination to explore.
Enjoy lunch in the park before driving to Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its flamingo-lined shores, white and black rhinos, and leopards hidden among the acacia trees. Enjoy an evening game drive before retiring to your lodge.

Day 5: Explore Lake Nakuru National Park
Spend the full day exploring Lake Nakuru, a haven for birdwatchers and wildlife lovers alike. Begin your day with an early morning game drive, where the golden light reveals the chance to spot elusive leopards, mighty lions, buffaloes, rhinos, and the rare Rothschild’s giraffe. The lake’s shores are home to hippos, while birdwatchers will delight in the flamingoes and several other bird species that call this area home.
Afterwards, return to your lodge for a delightful breakfast. Spend the afternoon relaxing, either gazing at the stunning lake views from your elegant tent or unwinding by the infinity pool before setting off at 4 pm for an exciting evening game drive. Your day ends with a delectable dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara National Reserve
Travel time: About 5 to 6 Hours
After breakfast, set off for the Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s premier safari destination, located in the southwest. Arrive in the Masai Mara in time for lunch at your lodge or tented camp.
Relax at your lodge and later, visit a Maasai Boma for a cultural experience. Engage with the Maasai people and learn about their unique traditions, dances, and semi-nomadic lifestyle. While here, you will also get a chance to see their mud-thatched manyattas (huts), hear folklore stories, and even join in a warrior dance.

Day 7: Full-day Game Drive in Masai Mara
Today is dedicated to exploring the legendary Masai Mara, home to the Big Five and the stage for the Great Migration (July–October). Venture deep into the Mara River region, where crocodiles and hippos lurk, and follow the iconic acacia-dotted landscapes where cheetahs chase prey at breakneck speeds. The Mara is one of Africa’s best wildlife locations, home to an abundance of wildlife, including several lion prides, herds of elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and various species of gazelles. Cheetahs and leopards are often spotted, while rhinos are a rarer sight.
From July to October, the Mara becomes the stage for the awe-inspiring wildebeest migration, a spectacle that draws massive herds and their predators, creating a wildlife drama like no other. You can enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild or opt for a delightful meal at your lodge or camp. Consider an optional hot air balloon safari for a breathtaking sunrise view over the Mara (at an extra cost).

Day 8: Masai Mara to Nairobi
Travel time: About 5 to 6 Hours
After breakfast, enjoy your final game drive on your way back to Nairobi, catching the last glimpses of the Masai Mara’s incredible wildlife. Arrive by late afternoon, with a drop-off at your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward journey. Your 8-day Magical Kenya Safari has finally come to an end.
